Navigating the Site

Each page of betterthanpaint.com has the same construction. Each contains a header, a side-bar, the main body and a footer. The figure below illustrates this:

The header is used to navigate to the primary sections of the site. The sidebar is used to navigate to subsections within the current section. The main body presents the primary content of the current page. And the footer displays some commonly used links.

Header

The header allows you to jump to various sections of the site. It consists of a Navigation Bar and a Special Links section.

The Navigation Bar allows you to jump to one of the five primary sections of the website

  • The Store.
  • The About Us Page.
  • The Contact Page.
  • The Product Instructions Page.
  • The Product Information Page.

To jump to a particular page, click on its name in the navigation bar.

When you are in one of these sections of the website, the name will appear highlighted in the navigation bar. For example, if you are in the Store, the navigation bar will appear as follows:

The Special Links section allows you to jump to particular pages of interest. You can view the contents of your shopping cart by clicking the View Cart link. You can also get help on any particular page by clicking the Help link.

Finally, if at any time you wish to get back to the Home Page, click the logo or title in the Navigation Bar.

Side Bar

The side bar allows you to search the site for particular products, as well as navigate within your particular section.

Side Bar Search

To search for particular items in the store, enter the keywords on which to search—sepearated by spaces—and press "Go". This will bring up a list of items matching that search.

To perform a more advanced search, press the "Adv. Search" button.

For more details on searching, see the help topic on Searching.

Side Bar Navigation

In each area of the website, you can navigate to different portions of that area by clicking the links on the sidebar.

The sidebar will look different for each section of the website. Here is an example sidebar for the Online Store.

Main Page

The main page shows the primary content of the page. Here is where you will do most of your interaction with the site.

Every page has "Breadcrumbs" at the top. These are links that help you navigate back up the heirarchy of pages on the site (to help you get your bearings).

Footer

The footer simply contains some useful, common links that are available on every page.
